I’m currently working on some stuff and themes to do with personal development and relationships. I’ve always found this concept from Japan to be exquisitely beautiful. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”), also known as Kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”) literally taking something that was broken and putting it back together to make something that, while still serving the original shape, form and use, is now something more like a handcrafted work of art. It’s no longer just a simple bowl, it is now your favorite bowl, the one you want to use every time. When dealing with difficulties, problems in relationships and the struggles we face in ourselves, it’s important to remember that even though things can appear completely broken, it’s possible that the ‘golden repair’ can result in something greater than it was before.
Kintsukuroi: ‘golden repair’
