Today all my social media feeds are about a common theme: a dedication to all the amazing women who, in spite of circumstances or society or whatever obstacles they have had to face…they excelled, and contributed in the same way a man can, but also in many ways that a man simply cannot.
I pause to reflect on why there exists in our ‘advanced civilization’ so much in equality and sexism…why it continues to be so pervasive in our culture that somehow someone’s gender should dictate their pay or ability to contribute, or their rights…or how you judge and perceive them.
This is for my mother, my daughters, my aunties, my cousins my nieces… all my female friends and family without whom I would not be the man I am today.
“Wolves and women are relational by nature, inquiring, possessed of great endurance and strength. They are deeply intuitive, intensely concerned with their young, their mate and their pack. Yet both have been hounded, harassed and falsely imputed to be devouring and devious, overly aggressive, of less value than those who are their detractors.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estes
